DESCRIPTION
Pinterest is an app that simulates a virtual bulletin board with an intuitive and easy-to-use interface. Pinterest's mechanism is based on the use of hashtags to categorize images so that they are easily found.
You can write down or rather "pin" the images that somehow inspire you, excite you, so that you can have them all at hand divided by categories and can consult them at any time.
It is a social media based on images and more generally on visual content. It is not a social to talk about yourself, but it could be well exploited to make your interests shine through the shared contents. Images and videos are the masters: tutorials, video recipes, infographics are just some of the contents that you can find on Pinterest and that you can decide to save in your personal boards divided by theme.
INNOVATIVE LEARNING OBJECT
Pinterest was born to categorize and save images in the fashion world, but more and more are the stories about teaching science. The app is very simple and the images or videos found are interesting and clear. It is a social network that can help the teacher and the student to study even in science subjects.
EXPERT'S COMMENT
Why should you use Pinterest? To categorize the images you find on the web and easily consult them.
Are you learning how plants grow (Biology) and have you found the images of seeds, leaves, trees, ... you were looking for? Create a special board, rename it (eg plant life) and save those images there along with all the others you find by searching by topic.
Do you want to help your friends understand environmental pollution? The search bar on the Pinterest home helps you: start typing the topic of your interest and discover the suggestions that Pinterest provides.
Are you looking for a subject in Physics? Type the keyword in the Pinterest search bar and scroll through all the images or videos that appear. If someone hits you, "pin it" and you will find it in your profile on the bulletin board where you have chosen to save it.
And it will remain as if they were lecture notes or insights.
