DESCRIPTION
The Teach with Earth educational webpage provides a variety of inspirational resources for educators to "teach with Earth" and engage students in STEM subjects using Earth as the learning context.
On this site it will be possible to find a very wide collection of ESA curricular classroom resources concerning STEMS subjects that will guide the primary and secondary school students through the understanding of the features and the complexities of our planet and of the causes and consequences of a rapidly changing world. The resources will be enriched by videos and animations covering different topics for a deeper and more engaging approach to the faced issues. Teachers will also find useful background information about current and future ESA missions that aim to improve the understanding of our planet.
COMMENTS
This web page is a new entry in the landscape of the educational activities supported by the European Space Agency (ESA). It has been launched on the Earth day, the last April 21st. In the framework of the whole educational project of ESA, Teaching with Earth promotes an interdisciplinary approach among many subjects, Earth and environmental science, Earth observation, and satellite technology requiring a variety of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills and background knowledge. The inspiring multimedia resources and tools to explore Earth and related topics, represent a precious educational scaffolding for teachers and a very engaging approach for students.

TEACHER'S COMMENT
A special mention deserves the section dedicated to younger pupils that runs on the ESA kids website where children can join Paxi, the ESA Education mascot, who comes from a planet still in the Milky galaxy but that orbits around a different star not too far from the Sun. Paxi parked his spaceship on orbit and jumped down to Earth with its parachute to meet kids and share with them his adventures around the space. A lot of video lessons given by Paxi are available in different languages, the languages of the European partners of ESA. He guides his friends on Earth to discover why we have day and night, to investigate our most precious resource, water and learn about the greenhouse effect and how it makes life on Earth possible, just to give some examples of the topics treated by Paxi. All this is achieved by means of cartoons, in a very engaging way.
The overall educational resources offered by ESA are to be taken into account in the view of a ICT based didactic approach and of inspiring new generations since from early age to get fascinated and involved in science and STEM subjects. Furthermore the proposed resources are perfect to approach topics related to environmental problems and solutions as promoted by the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
